Christmas 2008

Well.. I was just realizing that I did not post anything yet for Christmas.. what a grinch.. I guess... Since we didn't have a santa in our house anymore... Christmas was very relaxing and we got to sleep in till 8... we usually all wake up by 7 so it was nice to get that extra hour of sleep. It was hard this year for Miguel. His grandmother passed away a year ago on the 24th and that was the day that we had arrived in Mexico City last year and had the funeral on the 25th since they bury their dead a day later. What a crazy Christmas last year! This year.. we lounged around. We both decided that we would not exchange gifts to each other this year, and rather give to others. I loved it.. I am not much of a receiver of gifts.. I love to give them! I think we will continue that from now on... We gave Michael a few little gifts and it was nice. He is learning too, that it doesn't matter what you get.. it's what you give. He is very understanding of this and loved to help us prepare the gifts this year for others. We all had vacations during Christmas and that was nice too! Miguel was off for 10 days (he just returned back to work Monday night) and Michael and I are still on vacation until the 5th of Jan. I love my job! Next year Miguel will have Christmas and New Years off.. so we will probably be going down to Mexico again next year.. hopefully with no sadness like the last Christmas we went. It was funny tonight.. the kids were getting sleepy and one student even drifted off (while standing) and then sat down and then popped back up again :) They were sure sleepy tonight!

Just some pics of my neices and nephew from Mexico

Miguel took these pics of our neices (sobrinas) and nephew (sobrino)when he went to Mexico about a month ago. There is Ariadna (Susie's little girl), Joshua and Lizzett (Ricardo's) and then Karen (Danny's)

Miguel and his Brothers got together and had their first ever "brother" outing. They had the time of their lives!

Just some photos from his trip to Mexico with his brothers Ricardo, Danny and Diego. They have never been on a mini trip together just the four of them. Miguel came to America when he was 20 and his brothers were younger.

House Hunting!

Well.. some of you know... we are looking for a house in the Tooele area now! Fun fun fun! When Miguel gets back from his trip.. we will be looking to put offers on houses.... Starting October 25th... I will keep you up to date on this... We are so excited to have a house again.. Its getting crazy with living in Salt Lake and teaching in Tooele... Taking Michael back and forth with me... Luckily my mom and dad have let us stay at their house a couple of times during the week to help with gas... THANKS MOM AND DAD!

I was so happy to go back! I am helping my boss get our room ready.... Our school has gone to school wide Title 1 now and we have lots in store for us this year! Our room is bigger and we have new programs to be implemented. I am so excited to be back!

Also, Michael started the 2nd grade this year. He is in Ms. Degen's class. I requested her last May and was so happy that it was granted. (I guess that is a benefit of working at the same school that he goes to... woo hoo!) I was so impressed with her class last year that I really wanted Michael in her class. So far so good... The first morning.. he was crying and complaining that summer was over and that he didn't want to go to school. When I went to his class after school was let out... he was telling me that he loves the 2nd grade and his teacher! AWESOME! I was so happy to hear that! This is gonna be a great year! I can just feel it in my bones!
